Ryoji Ikeda

I don’t know whether he considers himself a musician, or a sound artist, but I think he’s in the tradition of Terry Riley, Steve Reich, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. His audio sculptures, or songs, or whatever they are, drill into my head and swirl around, calming my mind and bathing my entire nervous system.

His installation, The Transfinite, was one of the most immersive and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had in any art space.
